I recently listened to this audio by Danielle LaPorte about gifts vs. transactions. It was a very interesting topic about the reasoning behind the gifts that we give. Are we doing something because of the expectation of receiving something in return? Or are we doing it genuinely as a gift? Here are my notes below:

Your entire life is not a business deal

Say to yourself “I’m happy to help” regardless of whether or not the person responds with gratitude

Transactional giving should not be all of our giving – if all of our giving is to secure our getting than thats just gross

Expectations are a set up for resentment – the fewer expectations we carry, the more we have to offer

I just wanted you to have what I could give because I thought you needed it

Kindness is a renewable resource
